Slowly fermenting ooze of masticated words escape from
Jaws clenched tighter than a dead man's rigored fist
Hooks strike down, piercing vocal cords
That once rang truer than the most resonant of bells
Proud Minerva alas your kingly shroud has been ripped
Your scale broken in two
And your dignity thoroughly abused
Fighting to stand, eyeball hanging from a battered socket
Bent sword hilt digging in the dirty, cold asphalt
Thrown to your knees by hoards of Mammon worshippers
Obediently chewing on their paper lure
Climbing over the unceremoniously dumped corpses of
Chinese laborers and Indian child prostitutes
Afghan shepherds and West African slaves
Chasing that First World illusion of material comfort
They ignore your plight, alter their vocabulary to suit their vice
Indoctrinate the children and consume, consume, consume...
Like dark magicians they have weaved a spell
And now the whole world has gone to hell
Your throat clenches with thirst but the waters are polluted
Your stomach growls with hunger but there is no food
No gardens, no fields, the soil is barren
Disappearing under a concrete leprosy that spreads over the Mother
Yana, Tumucua, Purupuru, Quaqua, Pulacuam
Are but a few of the names struggling to free themselves from your lips
People eradicated in the name of greed, ignorance and white supremacy
People eradicated in the name of greed, ignorance and white supremacy
